As announced by Christopher McQuarrie himself on Twitter, Shea Whigham will be joining the new Mission: Impossible movies in a as-of-yet unannounced role. Whigham has previously been cast in a number of high-profile television shows, including his stint as Elias Thompson on Boardwalk Empire and aforementioned role as Agent Carter's Roger Dooley, and has also starred in multiple recent hit films like Joker and Vice.

Whigham, who was once nominated for a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series thanks to his role in the show Homecoming, has had a fairly busy career since the early 2000's, and it looks like he has no plans to slow down soon. As a sequel to Mission: Impossible - Fallout, a film many critics called one of the best action movies ever made, the next two Mission: Impossible sequels will surely be tests of not only the cast's acting ability but also their stamina.

Shea Whigham will surely be a great addition to this team, as he seems to consistently deliver quality performances no matter which show or film he is dropped into, and the quality of practical effects and real, actor-performed stunts in all of the recent Mission: Impossible movies show a dedication to entertainment rarely seen in today's cinematic landscape. With the return of Ilsa Faust in Mission Impossible 7, still portrayed in the series by Rebecca Ferguson, as well as rumors Ethan Hunt might go to space if the production team can get the okay from a group like SpaceX or NASA, the new Mission: Impossible films are shaping up to be a spectacle worthy of the franchise's name.
