Last night, The Masked Singer introduced their final group of six performers for season 3. Who makes up group C and do the clues and/or their voices tell us which celebrities they are?
The show started with some impressive stats. Host Nick Cannon let us know that this group has a combined one Guinness world record, two Time magazine most influential people award winners, three New York Times bestsellers, and 36 gold records. After six powerhouse performances, it was Bear who was sent packing. With guesses all over the place, none of the panelists got it right. However, panelist Robin Thicke got close when he guessed SNL star, Tina Fey. Bear was not Fey but she was someone Fey famously portrayed on SNL, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
Palin, who accounts for one of the two Time magazine most influential award winners and one of the three New York Time bestselling authors, shocked viewers when she removed her mask. Palin then went on to do an encore performance of Sir Mix Alot's hit Baby Got Back. Fans even noted that her encore had her singing the whole song vs previous unmasked singers who sang only a small part of their song during the encore. Though fans now know who the tye-dye bear costume was hiding, that still left five more anonymous singers to try to identify. Who are the celebrities hiding behind those remaining masks?
Prediction: Kandi Burruss
While many fans thought they recognized the voice of The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss, it were the clues that made it a lock. The biggest clue for many was the group of elderly women with weapons shown in the clue package. Burruss owns a restaurant in Atlanta called Old Lady Gang. The same package showed motel room doors shown were 4, 5 and 6 and Burruss did a song with Sole called 4,5,6. The room key with a number 2 that was shown could refer to the fact that the former Xscape singer joined The Real Housewives of Atlanta during its 2nd season. When the 3rd motel door opened, there was a party scene, this is likely referencing another song Buruss cowrote for fellow Real Housewife Kim Zolciak titled "Tardy for the Party."
Prediction: Hunter Hayes
While the clues seemed to have many red herrings sending fans in many different directions, the voice itself turned out to be the biggest clue. Fans of singer Hunter Hayes were sure it was his voice they were hearing. The clues tend to back them up a bit. Astronaut mentioned starting at a young age. Since Hayes's career started at age 2, this definitely qualifies. The broom shown in the clue package made some think of Harry Potter. Though he didn't star in any of the popular films, he has expressed publicly that he had a crush on Emma Watson. This might be a stretch because, well, who didn't? However, another clue shown was a foot and Hayes did a duet with Victoria Justice of the song "Almost Paradise" for the Footloose remake which seems a pretty solid clue. Also, it's worth noting that Hunter Hayes holds a Guinness World Record, something Nick said there was one of in this group.
Prediction: Jojo Siwa
Of all the performers in Group C, the one everyone seemed in agreement on was T-Rex as YouTube personality Jojo Siwa. Even if the voice, movement, and dancing weren't immediately recognizable the clues were. The first thing shown was a compass with the directions "N" and "W" circled. Jojo Siwa appeared on Keeping Up with the Kardashians with Kim Kardashian's daughter North West. There was "U" to represent YouTube. T-Rex spoke of being plucked from obscurity to a place where ppl with similar looks, strength, and skill, were pirouetting the land. This can only be referring to Jojo's time on Dance Moms. This one is pretty open and shut. T-Rex can only be Jojo Siwa.
Prediction: Barry Zito, Trace Adkins or Tim Tebow
Rhino seems to be one no one can agree on. Some thought the height, the fall from grace and the country twang all pointed to country music singer Trace Adkins. Others thought the "giant" and "just a bit outside" were baseball clues and pointed to Barry Zito who moved from baseball to country music and has performed at the Grand Ole Opry. There were butterflies shown and Zito co-wrote a song called "Butterflies". Though he isn't quite as tall as many believe Rhino to be. Many others were sure Rhino was Tim Tebow though not many clues point to him. It appears at this stage there is no clear answer to the question "Who is Rhino?"
Prediction: Bella Thorne
Many guessed, including a panelist that Swan was Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev due to the vampire teeth shown in the clip. However, the better fit is Bella Thorne. She has been in multiple ghost-themed projects including Amityville: The Awakening and Tyler Perry's Boo! A Madea Halloween referenced by a ghost in the clue package. The vampire teeth points to the YA vampire movie Drink, Slay, Love which Thorne produced. There was a euphoric mention that most believed referenced the show Euphoria which her costar from Shake it Up stars in and in general the personality and voice and size and build of Swan all match the actress very well. Besides, wouldn't Bella Thorne picking the swan costume to suggest giving a nod to another famous Bella, Twilight's Bella Swan.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8pm EST on Fox.
