We first met Gabe Lewis in the sixth season after Sabre acquired Dunder Mifflin in The Office. Gabe was the first of Sabre to come to Scranton as the company's liaison to make sure the merger was successful. It's always a little weird when changes are made to this low-key tight-knit group and viewers were torn on their feelings for Gabe.
He may have seemed like a brown-noser at first (and he still kind of is), but the more we got to know him, the more we realized how he's just as quirky as the rest of Dunder Mifflin. Whether his colleagues are calling him "Skeleton Man" or he's accosting someone in the bathroom, we're taking a look at 10 of Gabe's weirdest moments at Dunder Mifflin.
10 His Portrayal Of President Lincoln
In the episode "Gettysburg," Andy sets up an integral business trip to the battlefields of Gettysburg to relate war to business. Gabe tags along but as the group separates, a bunch of tourists believe Gabe is an Abraham Lincoln impersonator and wants pictures with him. And funny enough, this isn't the first time it happened. "It makes it kind of hard for me to go to places like museums, historical monuments, and elementary schools," he says while looking at the camera. He ends up giving in and telling the tale of President Lincoln while the rest of Dunder Mifflin continues exploring Gettysburg.
9 When He Accosted Andy In The Bathroom
The relationship between Andy and Gabe has always been a negative one because of one person: Erin. Both men were in love with her and Erin felt caught between the two. She always loved Andy and referred to him as her best friend but she was hurt after he didn't tell her about Angela, so she fell into the arms of Gabe. But when Gabe and Erin broke up, he didn't want her running back to Andy again.
He ended up following Andy into the men's room one day and basically accosted him for his possible intentions. "Stay away from Erin! I'm your boss!" he says; as if mixing personal and professional situations is a good idea in a corporate atmosphere...
8 And Later Followed Erin Into The Bathroom!
Gabe may seem professional in Jo's eyes but he's anything but professional when he lets his emotions get the best of him. When he and Erin broke up, he took it pretty hard and had this sad puppy face on whenever Erin walked by.
In one particularly weird moment, he followed Erin to the bathroom (what is it with Gabe and not respecting people's privacy?) and begged for her to take him back. She tells him to leave and instead of doing so, he says "Someday, we are going to tell our grandchildren about how their grandfather won you back in a woman's room." Sadly for Gabe, this speech didn't work on her
7 The Questions He Asked Andy In The Regional Manager Interview
In the episode "Search Committee," Jo appoints Jim, Toby, and Gabe as the search committee for a new regional manager for the Scranton branch. The trio interview a bunch of promising candidates (including Kelly) but the most favorable is Andy. Andy has already worked at Dunder Mifflin for years and knows the ins and outs of the business.
However, Gabe wasn't going to let his interview go successfully. He asked Andy a slew of unrelated business questions and when Andy actually answered them correctly, Gabe became irate. "Shut up about the sun! Shut up about the sun!" he screams as Andy answers his question about the sun's distance from the Earth.
6 The Cinema Of The Unsettling
In the episode "Spooked," Erin isn't dating Gabe or Andy but she's friends with both of them. Andy is trying to impress Robert California with a spooky Halloween party and appoints Erin to plan it. But after Erin's first attempt was too childish, she decides to ask Gabe for help since he owns over 200 horror movies. His eyes light up when she asks for him and he suggests showing the office an experience he likes to call "the cinema of the unsettling." It's a variety of short disturbing clips, merged into a film. Erin played the "film" (if you can even call it a film) and it was so worrying that people were gagging, forcing Erin to turn it off. All the while, Gabe had a huge smile on his face adding to his creep factor.
5 And His Fascination With Horror Films
Aforementioned in the entry above, Gabe has this weird fascination with horror films. We learn this when he's dating Erin when the winner of Words with Friends gets to pick the weekend movie. Erin never wins, which means she's seen a ton of horror movies because that's all Gabe seems to want to watch, much to Erin's dismay. After they break up, we learn about his dark knowledge for "cinema of the unsettling" and even when he accosts Andy in the restroom, he threatens him and says "You don't want to get on my bad side, I have seen some horrible things, I own over 200 horror movies."
4 He Started Workplace Relationship Papers (Without Being In An Actual Relationship)
Val is one of the only female workers in the warehouse and gets a lot of attention from the other workers. Darryl had a crush on her from afar and so did Gabe, apparently. In "Doomsday," the two had a short moment before Gabe ran to Toby to file relationship papers. After Toby asks who's he seeing, Gabe says Val. "I'm not technically seeing her but I've seen her with the eyes and uh, there was attraction in at least one direction." Toby refuses to do the paperwork unless they were both consensual, which annoyed Gabe because he was lonely. He then spends the rest of the episode trying to impress her and let's just say he fails miserably.
3 His 'Just Do It' Tattoo
Gabe disappears back and forth from Florida to Scranton towards the end of The Office but he comes back in the episode "Moving On," when Andy calls him to the office. At this point in the series, Erin and Andy broke up yet again and Andy is jealous that Erin is now seeing Pete. To get back at the two of them, Andy hires Gabe and Pete's ex-girlfriend to come back to the office to discuss business ideas... Obviously, he invited the two of them into the office to cause drama and that's exactly what happened.
While they were all in the conference room arguing, Gabe told Erin he got a tattoo for her (which Erin did not make him do). He got a Nike swoosh as a reference to "just do it, Erin."
2 When He Tried Suspending People Without Pay
In the episode "Secretary's Day," Michael is out of the office spending time with Erin, which leaves the rest of the office goofing around.
Oscar made a video of Cookie Monster with Kevin's voice, which got the office laughing but deeply upset Kevin. He complained about it to Gabe, which put him in a powertrip and began suspending people without pay to prove that he has a higher authority over the office. But as it turns out, he can't suspend people without pay... So the joke was really on him.
1 His Thigh Curl Contest Against Dwight
Who's tougher: Dwight or Gabe? In an effort to prove who the strongest was, Jim pits Gabe and Dwight against each other in a thigh-curl contest. The whole stunt was embarrassing enough to make them look like fools and not be able to walk the next day but it all started when Gabe was seen taking protein powder. Office fans can see this as a joke since Gabe is so lanky and frail and is constantly being picked on for being too "boney."
