10 Broken: 7.3 (2012)
We kickstart the list with the movie Broken, which saw Cillian Murphy star alongside Tim Roth. It's a coming of age drama that is partly inspired by To Kill A Mockingbird, and focuses a lot on what happens when people are falsely accused of things.
One character (Rick) is falsely accused of rape in the film, while Mike (played by Cillian Murphy) is falsely accused of impregnating someone, which he ends up being beaten up for. The film brought a tremendous performance from Cillian Murphy and remains one of his popular credits.
9 The Wind That Shakes The Barley: 7.5 (2006)
This movie is set against the backdrop of the Irish War of Independence where two brothers (one of which is played by Cillian Murphy), have to fight a guerrilla war against the British forces. It's a gripping movie from start to finish, and one that is full of twists and turns that keeps an audience engaged all the way.
The film was widely praised and actually won the Palme d'Or at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival, setting the record (which has since been surpassed) for being the highest-grossing Irish-made independent film of all time.

Atlantic: The Wildest Ocean On Earth is a much different role for Cillian Murphy, as here he acts as the narrator for this awe-inspiring documentary series. Murphy has a perfect voice to go alongside some of nature's most beautiful oceans, and it really works well within this series.
The focus of this one is on the vast ocean, with BBC's Natural History Unit focusing on a stretch of nearly 10,000 miles from the Arctic to the Antarctic. It takes a detailed look at the animals and how they survive within their specific climates.
5 Batman Begins: 8.2 (2005)
As we previously mentioned, Cillian Murphy is often placed into Christopher Nolan projects, and Batman Begins is another example of that. Murphy was cast in the movie to play the role of Scarecrow, one of Batman's biggest enemies and it's a performance that really is mesmerizing.
Murphy brings a real twisted element to this role, playing Dr. Jonathan Crane who smuggles drugs into Gotham. He is a corrupt psychologist and he uses the Scarecrow mask to then spray fear-inducing hallucinogens at people, with Batman having to be saved by Alfred when he comes up against him.
4 Inception: 8.8 (2010)
Another Christopher Nolan project that Cillian Murphy is involved in is Inception, which is often praised as being one of Nolan's greatest ever movies. The film has an amazing ensemble cast, featuring some major names in Hollywood, but none of them overpowers each other, instead, they bring the best out of each other.
The film is a complex one that also has a unique ending, one that leaves audiences guessing as to how the film actually wraps up. 3 The Dark Knight Rises: 8.4 (2012)
Cillian Murphy has a role in all three of Christopher Nolan's Batman films, as he once again pops up in the final installment, The Dark Knight Rises. This is the movie that wraps everything up for this story, and Murphy appears when Gotham City is at its absolute worst.
He returns and works as a 'judge' presiding over the lives of Gotham's citizens. He makes the decisions on whether people are guilty or not, with some being forced to walk out on the ice, and likely die. It was only a subtle appearance and he didn't get to bring the Scarecrow out to play, but it was good to have the continuity with his character.
2 Peaky Blinders: 8.8 (2013-)
While Cillian Murphy has been involved in many major movie productions, there's no doubt that he is now best known for his role as Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders. The incredibly popular BBC show that is set around the Shelby family is an incredible show, and with Murphy in the lead role, it really allows him to showcase his talent.
This series, which is still ongoing, focuses on the Shelby's and how they build their empire post-World War One. Whether it be by illegal or legal means, the Shelby family is willing to do anything, including crossing the government and even the mafia.
1 The Dark Knight: 9 (2008)
While Cillian Murphy does also pop-up in The Dark Knight Rises, he only makes a brief cameo in the third movie, however, in this classic he has a slightly more significant role. While he isn't as important here as in Batman Begins, his character has certainly developed during that time.
In The Dark Knight, the Scarecrow has his own gang who distributes his toxic compound as drugs to the mobs. It proves he is a complete maniac that just enjoys the torture and served its purpose of continuing Scarecrow's story, although fans would have enjoyed seeing more from him.
