The Bachelorette: Former Contestants Commemorate Tyler Gwozdz

Several contestants from season 15 of The Bachelorette have commemorated Tyler Gwozdz after his death. Hannah Brown's former beau died from an alleged drug overdose on Wednesday.

According to a newly released 911 call, Gwozdz was found unresponsive by an unidentified female caller. She informed the authorities that she struggled to gain access to the room in which he was discovered. Gwozdz was rushed to a Florida hospital, where he had been listed in critical but stable condition. That's when his condition took a turn on Wednesday, and he was pronounced dead. Gwozdz was 29. Bachelor Nation became acquainted with Gwozdz when he competed for Brown's affection. Viewers quickly fell for the tall, dark-haired contestant whose square jawline and amiable personality made him an instant favorite. However, controversy quickly struck when just three episodes into the season, he was removed from the show. Looking back, some of Gwozdz's demons may have come to light during production. There was little information given at the time as to why he was given the boot. Brown did note that she enjoyed the one-on-one date that she had with him and wished him well.

Viewers were curious about his swift departure, so Gwozdz took the time to address the gossip that he was dismissed because of his checkered past with other women. "The rumors are so far out of the realm of my personality and values that it seems silly to waste time denying, but I suppose I will for the record. But I will be alright," Gwozdz told Refinery29 in May 2019. "This was a decision that I came to with producers, and something that I’ve come to realize what is the best decision that could’ve been made."

Since his death, several of Gwozdz's former roommates and fellow contestants delivered words of remembrance. Luke P. gave a spiritual response to the news that hearkens to his religious background: "I had the privilege to get to know Tyler Gwozdz on The Bachelorette. He was a man with good intentions. He wanted to make a positive impact on the world."  Even Bachelorette Hannah's most despised ex Jed Wyatt had nothing but kind words for the dearly departed. The aspiring singer told Us Weekly"My heart goes out to his family in this time. Tyler was nothing but nice to me and a joy to be around."

Say what you will about Tyler Gwozdz. He left this Earth with plenty of people who will miss him. At only 29 years old, he had so much to live for, and was clearly struck down before he could made the type of impact he wanted to in his life. We live in a time when addiction plagues so many. The opioid epidemic has claimed the lives of people's brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers. If this was the true cause of Gwozdz's death, then hopefully he is finally at peace. In the meantime, Bachelor Nation is mourning the death of one of its own who is gone too soon. Rest in peace, Tyler G.
