Saved By the Bell Revival Will Include Zack & Kelly Somehow

It's now been reported the upcoming Saved By The Bell revival series will also feature actors Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen, who played Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski, in some capacity. When the news hit the air waves last fall that a revival series was confirmed to be coming to NBCU's streaming service Peacock, many made note that just Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley were attached to the new series. Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley played A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano on the original teen comedy in the early 90's, and they are now set to return as parents of children who attend their alma mater, Bayside High School.

A previous synopsis did feature a few words about how Mark-Paul Gosselaar's Zack Morris could be involved in Peacock's revival series, as his character is now set to be a California Governor, one "who made the controversial decision to close down low-income schools, resulting in an overload of new students at other schools, including Bayside." Almost all of the original cast seems to be keeping fairly busy, as Gosselaar is currently starring in ABC's Mixed-ish alongside Tika Sumpter (Final Space) while Tiffani Thiessen recently nabbed a role on Netflix's Alexa & Kate.

Just how involved the two major players of the original series are going to be in NBC's new Saved By The Bell show has yet to be determined, but viewers also know the revival series will star John Michael Higgins (Pitch Perfect) who will play a goofy but lovable principal, similar to Dennis Haskins' Mr. Belding, who starred in the original series. Actress Josie Totah (Champions) will also star as Lexi, a “beautiful, sharp-tongued cheerleader and the most popular girl at Bayside High who is both admired and feared by her fellow students.”

With revivals and reboots being all the rage nowadays and the original Saved By The Bell series still being popular even thirty years after it originally aired, Peacock's Saved By The Bell revival is sure to make a splash with kids and adults alike, as everyone who grew up watching Zack, Slater, Jessie, and Kelly get into mischief in the halls of Bayside High probably has kids of their own now. After all, who better to tune in than the ones who helped make the show such a pop culture phenomenon in the first place?
