Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. : The Worst Thing Each Character Has Done

On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. you will not be able to find one character who hasn't undergone a huge character development. Ward went from hero to zero, May became one of the kindest individuals you would ever meet, and Daisy became one of the most powerful superheroes in the MCU.

However, that's not to say the other agents have had an easy time as the likes of Fitz-Simmons, Coulson, and Elena have all had to adapt after going through tragedy. Let's not forget that some of them have also crossed a moral boundary when they let their feelings blind their rationality. What are some examples? Keep reading to discover what is the worst thing each character has done.

10 Ward: Affiliation with HYDRA

It's not hard to realize what the worst thing Ward did when there are three seasons full of bad things. When he was revealed to be a double agent in "Turn, Turn, Turn." The fans' hearts broke as he turned on the team for Garrett. The road of redemption was lost for him as he dropped Fitz-Simmons into the bottom of the ocean and he became the head of HYDRA.

Let's not forget the time he kidnapped and tortured Bobbi for Kara. Not only did Bobbi get shot in the process but he also planned to kill Hunter - who he considered collateral damage in his revenge plot. It's just to hard to pick one when they were all equally bad.

9 Lincoln: Reckless in the field

Lincoln may have died a hero but that doesn't mean the good doctor didn't have his demons. In season 3, it was revealed that the Inhuman was a recovering alcoholic with anger issues. Lincoln had started drinking to cope with his depression. However, the doctor stopped an argument with his girlfriend, causing him to crash their car and kill her.

Lincoln also proved to be a liability on missions due to the Inhumanity allowing his temper to affect his judgment. For instance, he used his powers on his teammates when he was placed under suspicion of being one of Hive's lackeys. He also defied orders and put his quest for revenge against Lash ahead of everything else. He's lucky that no one was hurt in the process.

8 Deke: Sold Daisy out to Kasius

Since season 5, Deke has come a long way. It's no surprise that the grandson of Fitz-Simmons has proven to be a key asset to the team, helping them to return to the present and prevent the destruction of the Earth. However, he didn't leave a good first impression on the fans when he tried to sell the team out to Kasius.

His first mistake was revealing the true identity of Daisy to Kasius, who was then able to monitor her powers and plant a trap for her. Daisy ended up getting enslaved with the other Inhumans and was almost auctioned off. Deke also lied to the team about her whereabouts, which made it harder for the team to trust him.

7 Elena: Killed Ruby

If there was one distinctive moment that shows Elena going down to the dark side, it has to be when she killed Ruby. Fans may recall that the teenager cut off Yo-Yo's arms after she ambushed the team while she was trying to find Daisy. After this, the viewers saw Elena go down the wrong path, fueled by depression and desire for revenge.

While May and Daisy were adamant about helping Ruby, Rodriguez held a different opinion on the matter. As soon as Elena realized Ruby was the one who cut her arms off, she wasted no time in killing her with her own ring blades. She said she did it to save the world, but everyone knew it was premeditated revenge.

6 Mack: Part of the "real" SHIELD

Overall, Mack is a pretty awesome guy. However, when he first joined the team, he crossed fans by trying to tear the team apart. Fans may recall in season 2 that he and Bobbi were sent to infiltrate Coulson's team by the "real" SHIELD (the one led by Robert Gonzales).

Mack was not the nicest guy during this time. He was distant with Daisy when She discovered her Inhuman status, and he ended up questioning all of Coulson's orders and even upset Fitz when the scientist realized his closest friend wasn't all he appeared to be. After what Fitz went through with Ward, Mack should never have betrayed his trust this way.

5 Fitz: The Doctor

We all knew that Fitz was a changed man after he entered the Framework. While he was in the simulation, Fitz's life turned out very different from his real one. He had a close relationship with his father, was a high-ranking officer in HYDRA, and was a cold and ruthless killer.

However, this turned out to be an aspect of Fitz's personality that would resurface sometimes and take control. When it did, it led to Fitz kidnapping and torturing Daisy, which he didn't regret doing. Ultimately, his actions caused a rift between the members of the team.

4 Jemma: Behavior towards Inhumans

Out of all the bad things Jemma has done, her hostility towards the Inhumans was at the root of her worst actions. In season 2, there was a huge rift between the team as Daisy and Raina underwent terrigenesis. When Raina's new powers led to the slaughter of several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Jemma believed all Inhumans to be "monsters".

When Jemma found out that Daisy was an Inhuman, she didn't treat her well. First, she told the hacktivist that she would dedicate herself to neutralizing all aliens to prevent an epidemic.  The scientist also believed that Daisy was a danger to them all and argued with Fitz about Daisy's uncontrollable powers. It wasn't one of her best moments.

3 May: Killed a girl in Bahrain

Another obvious entry is the worst thing May ever did. As all the fans know, May hates the nickname given to her after the mission in Bahrain - "The Calvary." Before the team got together, Coulson and May were sent to Bahrain to track down a newly powered individual.

The mission escalated when Bahranian gangsters took the SHIELD agents and a young girl hostage. However, May soon realized the little girl was the one controlling the people and witnessed her kill the remaining gangsters. As a result, May was forced to kill her before she attacked the SHIELD agents. Out of all the things she's done, this is the one she regrets the most.

2 Daisy: Sided with mother over SHIELD

Fans couldn't help but be frustrated with Daisy's storyline in season 2 as she chose her mother over the team. The hacktivist never kept it a secret that she was trying to find out who her birth parents were, so it wasn't surprising when she blindly trusted her mother's expertise.

When a war between the Inhumans and S.H.I.E.L.D. broke out, Daisy sided with Jiaying after she claimed that Robert Gonzales tried to kill her. She ended up fighting with May after her mentor refused to leave the Afterlife with the other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. It was only after she witnessed Jiaying kill Raina did she realize she made the wrong choice.

1 Coulson: Sending Ward to Christian

One of the worst things Coulson did was decide to transfer Ward into his brother's care. As fans all know, Ward and his brother, Christian, had a strained relationship as the former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent claimed the politician abused him and Thomas for years.

When Christian began to take an anti-S.H.I.E.L.D. approach, Coulson made a deal with the senator to give him Ward if he dropped his vendetta. He even told Ward that he is only transferring him because Christian's political power was useful. However, the exchange was a set-up for Ward to escape custody. Since Christian and his parents ended up dead, the deal was for nothing. Ward would have been better kept in Vault D.
