2020 Movie Awards Schedule: When To Watch Oscars, Golden Globes & More

The 2020 Oscars, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and other awards shows are around the corner, and here's when they air. 2019's cinematically prosperous year has all built up to this: the awards season. Deeply seeded in the filmmaking process is the plight for award nominations and critical praise, as it is in our nature as an audience to applaud, celebrate, and consume things that stand atop the rest.

That being said, Hollywood has found a number of ways to celebrate their productions over the years, and many of them have become annual pop culture events in their own right. It is rare that films nominated for one of the more prestigious of these events won't go out of their way to flaunt that fact.

Here are the most important film awards programs this awards season: what they are, instructions on the best ways to watch them, as well as the dates and times of each.

Hosted by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globe Awards recognize excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. One of the first mega award shows to air every season, it is often considered to not only be the starting off point for the awards season but also a precursor to how the Academy Awards may shape up later on.

Leading the nominations this year is Noah Baumbach's painstaking drama Marriage Story with six, followed by Martin Scorsese's The Irishman and Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with five apiece. This year's Golden Globes will be hosted by British comedian Ricky Gervais.
