Gossip Girl, which was on from 2007 to 2012, is one of those shows that gives fans everything they want and more: There is drama. There is an amazing setting. There is romance. There are interesting characters. And there is fashion, fashion, fashion.
Since the story focused on a young group on the Upper East Side of New York City, there were always social events, shopping sprees and other stylish activities that called for the most glam outfits. And over the course of this teen drama television series, these are the 10 looks that still stand out for fans, even after all this time.
10 Blair’s Fall Fashion
Blair loved the fall season, since it brought about her birthday and her favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. It also allowed her to rock some of her best outfits, since everyone knows this character was all about adorable layers and leggings. This particular outfit was a coordinating ensemble that she wore while ice skating with her family. It still had that preppy and elegant vibe for which she was known, but it also had a feminine and youthful feel to it, with its touches of pale pink. And even while tripping her dad's boyfriend, she still managed to look stylish!
9 Blair’s Beautiful Browns
A similar look came when Blair wore another brown cape and another fabulous fall outfit. On top, there was a cute little cape. Underneath, there was a dress that had lace ruffle trim on the arms and along the bottom hem. Underneath that, she had on black tights with a sheer bow pattern in them. She accessorized accordingly, of course, and her luscious locks were held back with one of her signature headbands. It was the perfect mix of sugar and spice, just like this character!
8 Jenny’s Layered Looks
Another character who thrived in New York’s colder months was Jenny Humphrey. The older she got, the edgier she got, as she started acting out, in order to get attention and become the queen mean girl at school.
Despite her actions, her layered looks were so cool! She always showed off her long and lean legs even more by adding volume up top: oversized coats, sweater dresses, long cardigans, beanies and, of course, all her hair extensions and eye makeup! These all-black ensembles looked great in the New York streets.
7 Lily & Carol’s Vintage Vibes
One of the best episodes of Gossip Girl took place in the ‘80s; it centered around a young version of Lily van der Woodsen and her sister, Carol Rhodes. Lily, who was played by Brittany Snow, had an outfit with exaggerated shoulders and neon colors, two staples of this decade. Carol, who was played by Krysten Ritter, had a denim jacket as a statement piece, with its sleeves rolled up and the collar popped. Some of these pieces would still work today, as they are just so great!
6 Serena’s Gold Goodness
Serena had a flashier style than most of the other characters, and one of her favorite colors to wear was gold. In this episode, she wore a real show-stopper. There were electric blue cropped pants. There was a glittering gold blazer. And there was a really neat ponytail.
This was a good blend of fun and professional, and there were plenty of places where Serena could have worn this. Wherever it was, she would have been turning heads… as usual!
5 Serena’s Gold Gown
Yes, another gold outfit is up next. This dress stands out in many minds, and it suited Serena perfectly. It was so well-received that Ivy Dickens (one of the most-hated supporting characters on the show) even ended up stealing it from her!
No one could look like she did in it, though. The strapless design... the detailed tufts... the shimmering color... This was a good one.
4 Blair’s Pretty Purples
This next look is not a ball gown or anything, but it is a time when Blair looked exceptionally good. It was also when Chuck showed Blair the hotel he was going to buy, making it a very special moment for this character and this couple.
There was the purple top, with its feminine frills. There was the pencil skirt, with its cute print. And there was the pink purse, like a cherry on top of it all. Her low and lovely bun is also a nice touch.
3 Blair’s Red Romance
Another very memorable moment was when Blair was seen in this red dress. First off, this color is one that people are going to notice and remember, for sure. Secondly, it was a very big and bold dress, with its ruffles and volume. It, too, was worn during a notable scene with Chuck, and it fit into the story nicely: There were a lot of emotions, but these two have a lot of love, and when he saw her like this, he was reminded of who he was and where he was meant to be.
2 Serena’s Wow Wedding
The final example from Serena is, believe it or not, gold, because that is what she wanted to wear on her wedding day. Yes, in the final episode, time jumped forward, everyone joined together again, and this character finally tied the knot with Dan.
She was part disco ball, part fairy princess, with the metallic and the white. It was so her! Plus, her groom did not look too bad himself, wearing a gray suit with some interesting black detailing.
1 Blair’s Chic (& Unique) Ceremony
And then there was Blair’s and Chuck’s wedding, which had to quickly be done before he was whisked away by the cops. Would these two allow their ceremony to be anything but full of drama?! Despite the urgency of it all, it was at an adorable setting, underneath the bridge and in front of the fountain in Central Park.
Blair wore a pale blue gown that was covered in bead and floral detailing. It had a vintage vibe and royal feeling to it (though, this was not her wedding to actual royalty... but it was to her one true Prince Charming). She included a headband, too, and Chuck’s suit had matching colors, for even more perfection.
