Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is finally putting Rey, Finn, and Poe on a mission together, fixing a mistake made in the previous two sequel Trilogy films. The Rise of Skywalker releases in just under a week where the film intends on tying up loose ends, completing character arcs, and ending the saga with a bang.
As the ninth and final installment in the Star Wars saga. The film is being held to high expectations after the extensive backlash of its predecessor Star Wars: The Last Jedi. This being said, the film is expected to be the best of the three sequel films fixing any problems the previous two films may have created.
One of the major mistakes made in the sequel trilogy was separating the main characters throughout both of the first two films. The sequels three big heroes Rey, Finn and Poe had never been together until the final moments of The Last Jedi. Rey and Finn spent the majority of Star Wars: The Force Awakens together.
Additionally, Poe and Finn had moments together in both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, but these moments were fairly short. In The Last Jedi the heroes were spread across the galaxy on separate missions. Rey attempted to get Luke Skywalker to rejoin the resistance, Poe tried to take control of the resistance fleet as they ran from the First Order and Finn went with Rose, a brand new secondary character to find the master codebreaker.
However, The Rise of Skywalker finally makes up for this. The trailers released for the film have already shown the three heroes together in many of the scenes. This means that after two films fans will finally be treated to a proper hero trio, similar to the trio of Luke Leia and Han in the original trilogy.
While Luke, Leia, and Han spent plenty of time apart in the original trilogy, their friendship was established in A New Hope and clearly grew throughout the trilogy. While the sequel trilogy characters have met each other, there's no reason to consider them a "trio" just yet. In fact, Rey only met Poe for the first time in the final seconds of The Last Jedi.
Expect Rey, Finn and Poe to do the same in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Since The Rise of Skywalker is set a year after The Last Jedi, at the beginning of the film our heroes can already have a close relationship. This gives the film more time for the trio’s adventuring rather than setting up relationships like Poe and Rey.
