10 Ewoks

The Ewoks are incredibly loveable characters in Star Wars history and they play a huge role in Return of the Jedi, helping Han Solo and the rebellion to battle with the Stormtroopers. Their love for C-3PO is infectious to see and the way they work together is truly fantastic.

They are obviously very cute and incredibly merchandisable, which seems to have only increased their popularity amongst fans. But while they might seem cute and cuddly, they are incredibly vicious when needed and they are truly fantastic warriors, which is clear to see during the Battle Of Endor.

9 Lando Calrissian

Another incredibly popular supporting character from Star Wars is Lando Calrissian. Lando is incredibly similar to Han Solo, which is why he is so beloved, with their relationship being a complex, but a very fun one. There's a reason he is returning in the upcoming Star Wars film and was heavily featured in Solo's spin-off movie.

Lando might not start off in the greatest way by double-crossing Han, but he quickly proves his real personality. He's loyal and quickly helps the rebellion with his coolness just oozing out of him, instantly becoming a hit with fans of the franchise.

8 Darth Maul

While Phantom Menace brought arguably the worst supporting character in the history of Star Wars (we're looking at you, Jar Jar), it also brought a great one. He might have been the movie's main villain, but Darth Mal wasn't heavily featured throughout the movie.

He had an amazing look and was one of the best fighters we have ever seen. Darth Maul dominates and kills Qui-Gon Gin, and is more than capable of mixing it up with him and Obi-Wan at the same time. While he meets his end during the final battle, he is a character that fans really did love seeing.

7 Boba Fett

Speaking of villains whom audiences ended up loving, Boba Fett is another very popular supporting character from the franchise. What's not to love about this bounty hunter? He is an incredible fighter with deadly aim and simply goes around getting business done for money.

He has a very detailed backstory which is one that fans have consistently tried to learn more about and rightfully so. There are tons of fan theories about Boba Fett out there, which just goes to prove that he is incredibly popular as a character.

6 BB-8

BB-8 is one of the new characters in the Star Wars world, first appearing in The Force Awakens, and he has immediately become one of the most popular characters from the modern movies. In a similar way to other popular droids in the franchise, BB-8 has an incredible personality, despite the fact that he can't actually talk.

He's an incredibly loyal droid who sticks with whoever he is with as much as possible. He is also incredibly effective when needed, doing everything he can with his limited abilities. Being incredibly cute and hilarious, BB-8 has become an instant hit and is surely going to go down in history as one of the best supporting characters ever.

5 Jabba The Hutt

Jabba The Hutt is shown in plenty of Star Wars movies and it is easy to see why he has become incredibly popular in his supporting role. Yes, he captures Princess Leia and keeps Han Solo in frozen carbonite, but there is just something about this hideous character that is easy to love.

He is simply hilarious to look at for a start, and the way he runs his little empire is very effective, to his credit. He is one of the most memorable characters in Star Wars' history, which makes him one of the greatest supporting characters.

4 Ben Kenobi

While Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the lead characters in the prequel trilogy, older, Ben Kenobi takes a backseat role in the original movies. The main reason for that is that he is only a force ghost in the fifth and sixth films, but in New Hope, he does play a significant role.

He's an incredibly wise character that only wants the best for people, doing everything he can to guide Luke Skywalker in the way of the Jedi. At this point in his life, he just seems totally at peace and relaxed and there's just nothing not to like about him.

3 Yoda

Arguably the most powerful Jedi of all time, Master Yoda is an amazing character that fans absolutely love. While he is featured in many Star Wars movies, he is never the lead character, but that doesn't matter. Whether it be the very old, puppet style the CGI version, or even Baby Yoda, every version of the character is loveable.

He's wise and provides tremendous advice throughout the movies, while also showing brilliant power. He has some fantastic lightsaber duels throughout and does also bring some great comedy, mainly due to the way he talks. He's the ultimate Jedi and an incredibly popular supporting character.

2 Chewbacca

This is a character that could have been very easy to get wrong considering that Chewbacca doesn't talk and just makes his classic Wookie sound. It could have easily become an annoying character but instead, he ended up being the complete opposite.

Chewbacca is incredibly loyal and does everything in his power to help Han Solo, who he has a real bond with. He's a lethal shooter and a great pilot, while also having true power with his body as well. Chewy also provides loads of comedy throughout the movies too with his reactions to different things, and he has become one of the most popular characters in Star Wars history.

1 C-3PO & R2-D2

It is impossible to separate these two droids in a list as they are like two peas in a pod and they are the ultimate supporting characters in the Star Wars franchise. The duo is involved in all of the movies and they bring so much to each one with their incredible personalities.

Whether it is C-3PO's constant worrying or the fact that R2-D2 is the total opposite to him, in the sense that he is brave and will get involved in anything. They bicker and argue constantly and provide some of the funniest moments in the movies, but at the same time, they're crucial to the success of the light side of the force.
