Kate Middleton Reveals One of Prince Louis’ First Words

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton revealed that her youngest son, Prince Louis’ first words were inspired by the baking competition show, The Great British Bake Off. Catherine loves cooking with her children and evidently has a vast collection of cookbooks that she likes to refer to when baking, which has inspired the young prince's first words.

This British baking competition, The Great British Bake Off, (or The Great British Baking Show as it's known as in America) invites twelve amateur bakers to come and compete against each other to win the title of Greatest British Baker. Each round sees an aspiring baker proves themselves each round by baking cakes, bread, pastries, and various types of desserts for the judges, Mary Berry‎, ‎Paul Hollywood‎, and ‎Prue Leith to sample and judge. One by one, the contestants are eliminated and eventually the winner is crowned. This wholesome baking show has been a staple to British audiences since 2010 for a total of 10 seasons, and apparently, the Duchess is a fan.

Children grow up so quickly, even royal babies grow up fast. The Duchess of Cambridge’s youngest son, Louis, already may have found a passion in life thanks to his mother’s cookbooks. The mother of three revealed earlier in the month that her youngest child is already speaking. People revealed that the queen to be had a very large collection of cookbooks that included a few from the very popular, British icon, Mary Berry. Berry was the face of the hit show The Great British Bake Off until recasting occurred. According to the royal, one of 19-month-old Prince Louis’ first words was "Mary." The duchess said, "One of Louis’ first words was ‘Mary’ because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf."

Kate noted that her youngest son has a knack for faces, especially familiar ones. She said that Louis "would definitely" recognize her familiar face. "Children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books and he would say ‘That’s Mary Berry’… so he would definitely recognize you if he saw you today." The former Great British Bake Off judge recently spoke her praises in an interview about being able to cook with the royal couple in their kitchen. The household baker said she was more than impressed with the couple and their abilities, saying, "When they are together, he’s constantly touching her arm and looking over at her smiling and she’s the same with him ... It was very sweet to see because it was so natural."

BBC will air a Berry Royal Christmas on Sunday where viewers can tune in and watch the couple give back to their favorite charities, which include mental health associations. The hour-long holiday special will end the feistiness with a party hosted by the royal couple and will include special guest stars like Nadiya Hussain who won the bake-off. Hopefully, this will be the opportunity for Prince Louis to come face to face with his Great British Bake Off cookbook idol.
