George Clooney's 5 Best Movies (& 5 Worst), According To IMDB

There aren't too many actors who you can call genuine movie stars, but George Clooney certainly does fit the bill. Clooney is the kind of actor who immediately draws you in whenever he appears on screen, and yet he is able to play leading man roles as well as character actor roles with equal effectiveness.

Clooney has had a long and impressive career filled with memorable roles in great films. But like any actor, he has his share of bad movies too. While he is lucky enough to have enough winners to outweigh the misfires, let's have a look at both sides of his filmography. Here are George Clooney's best and worst movies according to IMDb.

10 Best: South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (7.7)

Clooney isn't the kind of actor who pops up in many animated films, but he made a rare exception to appear in South Park's first feature film. Clooney is apparently a big fan of the show, despite sometimes being ridiculed within the episodes. He is one of many celebrities who lent their voice to the big screen adventure which follows the boys in their attempt to save Terrence and Phillip from the backlash of angry parents.

Clooney has a small cameo parodying his role in ER as a doctor who attempts to save Kenny's life only to fail miserably.

9 Worst: Spy Kids 3: Game Over (4.2)

When Clooney was still trying to break out of the television actor bubble, Robert Rodriguez cast him in From Dusk Til Dawn. Perhaps Clooney is repaying the favor by appearing in Rodriguez's Spy Kids franchise. He appeared in the first film as Devlin, the head of the super spies' organization. While that proved to be a fun little cameo, his return in Spy Kids 3: Game Over was a little more embarrassing.

The franchise really goes off the rails with this messy and nonsensical sequel which features Sylvester Stallone as the new villain. Thankfully Clooney gets away with a brief appearance and he does get to show-off a solid Stallone impression.

8 Best: O Brother, Where Art Thou? (7.7)

Clooney is one of the lucky actors to join the roster of frequent Coen Brother collaborators. He has gone on to appear in several of their films, but O Brother, Where Art Thor? was his first time working with the acclaimed filmmaking duo. The movie has proven to still be a favorite with fans.

Clooney stars alongside John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson as escaped convicts in the 1930s South. They embark on an odyssey to find a hidden treasure while encountering all sorts of unusual characters along the way. The movie allowed Clooney to embrace his goofy side with the screwball adventure.

7 Worst: Unbecoming Age (4.0)

Before he made it big, Clooney took the path many other actors take in accepting roles in lesser projects just to get to the next job. Unbecoming Age is a bland comedy about a neglected housewife who is gifted with magic bubbles on her birthday and wishes to forget her age. When her wish comes true, she becomes a carefree and fun-loving person who is young at heart.

Clooney plays the heartthrob who falls for the main character. Though it is a supporting role, once he found fame, the movie was repacked as The Magic Bubbles and advertises with Clooney front and center.

6 Best: Gravity (7.7)

When a movie has only two actors appearing on screen for the entire runtime, you could do a lot worse than having those actors be Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. The two actors star as astronauts who find themselves stranded and alone in space after their shuttle is destroyed in a freak accident.

The movie is a gripping thriller that rarely allows you to breathe with all the heart-pounding suspense. Alfonso Cuaron used state-of-the-art technology to make the film appear to be a continuous shot. Bullock and Clooney keep the mayhem grounded with stellar performances.

5 Worst: Red Surf (3.7)

Red Surf is another one of Clooney's early films that few have seen which is probably how Clooney likes it. He stars as a bad boy surfer who moonlights as a drug runner. When his girlfriend gets pregnant, he decides to pull off one last big score then walk away from his life of crime forever.

The movie is cliched and dated but Clooney does get to practice his leading man chops. While the material he was working with was probably less than ideal, he was just a few years away from hitting it big.

4 Best: Fantastic Mr. Fox (7.8)

Clooney did return to the animation world for the chance to work with acclaimed auteur Wes Anderson in his first stop-motion film. Based on the children's book by Roald Dahl, Clooney provides the voice of the titular Fox who is drawn back into his life of a chicken-stealing criminal which ends up threatening his quiet family life.

Clooney leads an all-star cast of voice actors which includes Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, and Willem Dafoe. The movie is a charming and funny adventure with that unique Wes Anderson flair that makes it so irresistible.

3 Worst: Batman & Robin

While every actor in Hollywood seems to be joining the superhero genre, don't expect Clooney to be following suit thanks to his first attempt at playing a superhero. Batman & Robin was Joel Schumacher's second Batman film and the one that nearly broke the franchise. Clooney stars as the Caped Crusader who teams with Robin to take on Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy.

Clooney often apologizes for being the actor who almost ruined Batman forever, but the truth is that he is not bad in the movie. Sadly, the movie itself is a ridiculous mess filled with corny jokes, cartoonish performances and Batman has his own credit card.

2 Best: Ocean's Eleven (7.8)

Clooney really embraced his movie star persona in this star-studded heist film. He stars as Danny Ocean, a master thief just released from prison who puts a crew together to pull off a daring Las Vegas heist where they will rob three casinos simultaneously.

Clooney is joined by the likes of Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts in this slick, witty and stylish Hollywood romp. Everyone in the film looks to be having a blast and it only makes the movie all the more enjoyable.

1 Worst: Grizzly II: The Concert (3.5)

When you're a young struggling actor, you take any role that comes your way. That explains how Clooney ended up in this terrible creature feature. The ridiculous movie is a sequel to a 1976 Jaws rip-off. The sequel finds a killer bear terrorizing a forest area that is preparing for a massive outdoor concert.

Clooney one appears in a single scene as one of the first victims of the bear. Remarkably, his co-stars in that scene are none other than Laura Dern and Charlie Sheen. While it's fun to see these young actors together, that's pretty much where the fun ends with this movie.
