Game Of Thrones: Sansa Stark's Best Looks, Ranked | ScreenRant

Sansa Stark has grown to become one of the most popular characters in Game of ThronesWhile the character was originally disliked, by design, due to the fact that she was a Stark who wished beyond anything else to become a princess and marry a prince. This wish led her to try and become close with the Lannisters in order to marry Prince Joffrey, however, Joffrey would not be a Prince Charming. As the seasons went by, Sansa would learn to become smarter and respect her Stark roots even more, resulting in her becoming Queen in the North in the final season.

For this article, we're checking out Sansa's top ten best looks and outfits over the entirety of Game of Thrones.

10 King's Landing Sansa

Throughout her time in King's Landing, Sansa mainly wore princesslike dresses. At one stage her main style inspiration was Cersei Lannister, who Sansa mistook for a role model. This influence of Cersei can even be seen in the above dress. The way in which Sansa's hair is tied is reminiscent of Cersei and so is the style and cut of the dress.

While Sansa would eventually come to despise the Lannister Queen, she would still learn important lessons from her that would eventually lead to Sansa becoming Queen in the North.

9 Wedding Dress

This was another turning point in Sansa's life. Throughout her childhood, Sansa had dreamed of marrying a prince and becoming a queen. She had, at one stage, believed that this prince would be Joffrey Baratheon. However, she came to hate Joffrey after he had her father executed. Joffrey would also start to torment Sansa and one way in which he did this was to marry her to his uncle, Tyrion.

Both Sansa and Tyrion did not want the marriage but were forced to carry out the ceremony.

8 Dark Sansa

This period in Sansa's life was centered around her travels with Littlefinger. Her dyed hair and dark clothes were intended to be a disguise for Sansa, this would enable Littlefinger to hide her at the Eyrie after her escape from King's Landing.

The dark clothes, however, would become a trend in Sansa's style from this point on. The future Queen in the North would dispose of her former princess style in favor of a darker and more aggressive style.

7 Purple Wedding

This outfit isn't iconic because of the outfit, but because of the event at which she wore it. The above dress was worn by Sansa at what would eventually become known as the Purple Wedding. This event, which was intended to celebrate the marriage of Joffrey Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell, would lead to the death of Joffrey.

What's more, the necklace around Sansa's neck was also instrumental in the death of Joffrey as it contained the poison that would kill the boy King, even though Sansa was unaware that she carried the poison.

6 Winterfell Escape

Sansa's escape from Winterfell with Theon Greyjoy would become a turning point in the character. Prior to this moment, she had always been at the mercy of more powerful people and used as a bargaining chip by them. Joffrey simply saw her as a plaything, Cersei was using her as marriage bait, and Littlefinger married her to the evil and sadistic Ramsay Bolton.

When she escaped Winterfell, she would never again allow herself to be at the mercy of another. This escape would signify the end of Princess Sansa and the beginning of Queen Sansa.

5 Godswood Sansa

After her escape from Ramsay Bolton, Sansa started to truly dress like a Stark. While her previous dresses always had elements of her Stark heritage, such as wolves and grey colors, the above is more Stark than any of her prior outfits.

The furs around her neck and shoulders are not only a nod to her Stark family and roots, but also a direct nod to her father. Ned Stark famously wore a similar fur around his neck and shoulders during the first season of Game of Thrones, in what would become an iconic scene.

4 Princess of Winterfell

This is the look that we are first introduced to with Sansa. She wore dresses that contained both blue and greys in a subtle nod to both her Stark and her Tully ancestry. Her dresses are also extravagant and royal in a manner that is both in fitting with her current status as a princess, but also in keeping with her future desire to marry a prince.

This was in stark contrast to Arya, who despised wearing dresses and adhering to the lady-like duties that Sansa was excelling in at the time.

3 Battle of the Bastards

The Battle of the Bastards look was one fuelled by revenge for Sansa. She had been brutalized at the hands of Ramsay Bolton and had seen her childhood home under the influence of the sadistic Bolton family. Her outfit here is screaming her Stark heritage to the world.

She is emblazoned with the Stark wolf, wears a wolf fur across her neck and shoulders, and even has the auburn hair of her mother.

2 Armored Sansa

Sophie Turner, the actress who portrays Sansa Stark, had been pushing for Sansa to receive her own set of armor for some time, and in season 8, the costume department finally gave in to her request. While the armor is made of leather rather than metal, its purpose is not protection. The purpose of the armor is to make a statement to Daenerys Targaryen.

While Dany is in Winterfell, there is a constant frosty tension between Dany and Sansa due to Sansa's mistrust of the Breaker of Chains.

1 Queen Sansa

Queen Sansa represents the end of Sansa's character arc in Game of Thrones as well as the end of the North's membership of the Seven Kingdoms. She is no longer the naive little girl who was taken advantage of by the Lannisters and forced into captivity, she was now a ruler of the largest kingdom in Westeros and had successfully guaranteed its independence from the Seven Kingdoms.

Sansa has given up on her wish to be a princess and is now a queen who rules in her own right, with no king to block or veto her.
