In Destiny 2, there are many activities that are quite straight forward, and some that are nearly impossible to figure out alone. Guardians who have completed tasks on Dreaming City might have earned items called "A Small Gift" with a description that reads, "Smells faintly of mint." These mysterious drops are earned randomly by completing activities and defeating enemies in this location. However, the game doesn't explain their purpose at all.
These small gifts are actually offerings that players can give to 9 spectral cats hidden in the most obscure locations across the Dreaming City. As a reward for the gifts, the cats will give players Reverie Armor pieces and various weapons. While these rewards aren't absolutely necessary to obtain, this just another activity for players to do post-game. Most of the cats are fairly difficult to find without actively searching for them, but don't worry because this guide will explain the location of every cat and how to reach them.
- Cat 1
The first cat is found in the Divilian Mists area of the Dreaming City. Use the fast travel point and there will be a cliff straight ahead. Look over the ledge, and there will be a couple platforms that Guardians can jump to. On the bottom most platform, there will be an entrance way to a cave where players will find the very first cat.
- Cat 2
The second cat is located in the top left region of Rheasilvia. Destiny 2's Forsaken DLC provided players with a lot of content on the confusing Dreaming City, and this cat will require a bit more exploring and platforming than the other ones. Start by taking the fast travel point in the Divilian Mists and heading towards the entrance of the Blind Well. Once facing the door, go to the left. There will be a pathway that leads players through the mountain. Go through the small cave until outside, and then walk to the left and look up. There should be a blue statue of a maiden holding a circular object. Look to the right of the statue to see some ledges that players can walk across. Jump to those ledges and platform around the outside of the mountain until you reach the area on the opposite side of the statue where you first exited the cave. The cat will be at the feet of the statue.
- Cat 3
The third cat can be found near the main building of Rheasilvia. Face the front entrance of the building and take the dirt path to left, in between the first and second arches. Follow the road until there is a group of trees hanging over the edge of the cliff. Jump onto the biggest rock on the side of the cliff, and to the left, a cat will be sitting on the tree branch.
- Cat 4
The fourth cat will be located in Harbringer's Seclude, which is at the top right corner of Rheasilvia. Enter the main building and follow the path until the hallway right after the giant statue. Take a right, and there will be another large hallway. In the hallways, there will be another room an entrance located on the wall across from where you just entered. The room will have a large tree in the middle, and the cat will be on top of it.
- Cat 5
The fifth cat is underneath Harbinger's Seclude, so don't leave just yet. Instead of entering the tree room, follow the path until there is a large underground cavern with a giant statue in the center. To the right will be a building, and using the rocks on the side of the building, the cat will be found on the brim of the roof.
- Cat 6
The sixth cat is in the Strand. Right when Guardians enter the area, go immediately to the right, towards the Gardens of Esila. Once the pathway reaches the large door, there will be a cliffside to the left. Jump on top of the rocks, and the sixth cat will be at the base of the highest tree.
- Cat 7
The seventh cat will be in the Gardens of Elisa, so go through the door right next to the sixth cat. Follow the path until the Garden of Elisa area pops up on the corner of the screen. Then continue walking while hugging the left side. The seventh cat will be on the top of the second rock formation that Guardians will pass.
- Cat 8
The eighth cat is located behind the Spine of Keres. Fast travel to the Divalian Mists, and go through the blue crystal caves to the left of the first cat. Keep following the path until you reach the temple, and to the left will be an opening of destroyed crystal. Passed that is a bridge and some stairs. Follow this path, and there will eventually be a large blue crystal wall with an indent in the middle. Jump over the hole to find a rocky ledge. The eight cat will be in front of the leaves.
Note: Those playing as Hunters may not be able to make the jump over the hole, and will have to take an alternative route. Hunters will need to look to the right once they see the indentation. There will be a small platform that allows them to jump on top of the archway and reach the ledge with the cat.
- Cat 9
The last cat is found inside the temple. Once inside the room where the Oracle resides, Guardians will need to platform their way to the top using the balconies (Hunters might need to use the spinning platform in the middle to reach the highest point), and once at the top, there will be a walkway to the right. The cat will be sitting in between the window and the globe at the end of the hallway.
