Chris Evans' Captain America: Winter Soldier Elevator Fight Rehearsal

A recently released behind the scenes video of Chris Evans rehearsing for the iconic elevator fight from Captain America: The Winter Soldier shows practice was just as intense as the final filmed scene. The fight between Captain America and an elevator full of Hydra agents posing as members of S.H.I.E.L.D. is still fondly remembered as one of the most iconic moments from The Winter Soldier.

Although Captain America: The Winter Soldier was released back in 2014, the film is considered one of the best in Marvel's Cinematic Universe and easily one of the best Captain America solo films according to fans. One of the main reasons viewers adore The Winter Soldier is the film's exploration into Cap's fish-out-of-water adjustments to living in a far more modern time, and many consider the movie to simultaneously be a superb stand-alone film as well as a worthy addition to the MCU as a whole.

A Reddit user named SuperheroNick recently re-posted a behind-the-scenes video of Chris Evans rehearsing for Captain America: The Winter Soldier's iconic elevator scene in a brief, but effective, clip. The elevator scene is a perfect visual metaphor for the all-American hero having his very ideals being tested, as well as an example of a superior first-rate cinematic fight scene worthy of Captain America's heroism. Check out the epic fight below:

The Winter Soldier was the second time writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely had penned a Captain America film, and it was the first time they worked under the directorial helm of Joe and Anthony Russo. The writing/directing dream team would return for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers:Endgame, and a fun callback to the elevator scene was even thrown into Endgame, when Captain America finds himself stuck in an elevator in the past with HYDRA agents while on a mission to retrieve an Infinity Stone from New York in 2012. While Cap's story ultimately ended with his return to Peggy in Endgame, Chris Evans has yet to officially confirm if he'd ever return to the MCU as Captain America.

Regardless of Evan's potential return as the titular hero or not, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will remain in the upper echelon of well-reviewed and well-received Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Captain America started off as a naive skinny kid from New York who just wanted to protect the weak from bullies and miscreants, and while his character's development ultimately took him on a long and winding journey, facing choices which made him question his ideals and sometimes shatter them, Steve Rogers never lost his sense of wanting to do the right thing, even when the right thing meant Captain America taking out an elevator full of HYDRA agents.
