Bloodstained: How To Unlock The True Ending (& Avoid The Bad Ones)

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night brings the classic feeling of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night into the modern age. Bloodstained put you in the role of Miriam, a Shardbinder who can utilize the powers of the monsters she destroys. You've been tasked to stop another Shardbringer named Gebel who has summoned demons to destroy England as he seeks revenge on the surviving alchemists for what they did to him. Much like Castlevania, Bloodstained has a true ending that can only be unlocked with some extra investigation. This walkthrough will guide you through all three endings.

This Metroidvania game is full of secrets and if you don't want it to end abruptly, and quite frankly disappointingly, then you need to take your time and really explore what Hellhold Castle hides within its walls.

Here's a breakdown of how to avoid getting weak endings and find the best possible ending to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

There are actually two bad endings in Bloodstained and they're both very easy to achieve. The first is to simply rush through the game and find Gebel, the owner of the castle and the man making your life miserable. Beat him soundly with whatever weapon you choose and he'll eventually come to his senses. Gebel will then thank Miriam for saving him and she will head back to the town of Arvantville. Confused, Miriam questions her friend Johannes about why the castle still stands and why demons can still be seen around the local area. Johannes tells her not to worry about it and that the church will handle it. Credits. It's the worst of all the endings; nothing really gets solved, although you will unlock the "Just A Flicker" achievement. so there's that.

The second bad ending takes a lot more work and is just as disappointing. In this ending Miriam actually kills Gebel and then questions if it was even the right thing to do, cue a mysterious evil laugh. Here's how to unlock it:

  • First, you're going to need to acquire the Deep Sinker shard by fighting the boss Alfred in the Hidden Desert.
  • Second, work your way back to the Forbidden Underground Waterway and use the Deep Sinker shard, that will allow you to walk underwater and you'll find a path that leads you to the Secret Sorcery Lab.
  • Next, head to the Inferno Cave where the boss Orobas spends his time, kill him and obtain the Invert shard which can only be accessed through the Secret Sorcery Lab.
  • Next, head back to the Tower of Twin Dragons and take the elevator going to the bottom level, use Invert to fall to the top. There, the Aegis Plate will be waiting for you.
  • Head to the entrance of Gebel's castle and head to the upper portion of the map, there will be an iron maiden blocking your path and a spiked narrow path, using the Craftwork shard, you can move the iron maiden and with the Aegis Plate equipped, you can walk on the spiked surface without taking any damage.
  • This path will introduce you to the Oriental Sorcery Lab. Enjoy exploring the new area and you'll eventually encounter Zangetsu for the second time. Defeat him and your reward will be the beautiful sword known as the Zangetsuto.
  • Now is the time. Head back to the Hall of Termination and get to Gebel's throne room. Trigger the battle and kill him to obtain the second bad ending along with the "Usurper" achievement.

To find the true ending, you'll follow all the steps from above only this time, instead of defeating Gebel you want to focus your attention on the giant moon in the background. An easy way to do this is to simply use the Invert Shard which will put you safely on the ceiling, away from most of Gebels attacks.

Eventually, the moon will turn blood red and that's when you attack the moon itself. The moon will run away into the Garden of Silence, follow it and hit it hard with you Zangetsuto sword. The moon will implode into a portal leading you to the Den of Behemoths.

Go through the Den until you reach the Glacial Tomb, here you will fight the demon Gremory and get the Dimensional Shift shard. Go left through the Tomb and you'll find and fight the two final bosses. Win these and you will unlock the true ending and the "Dethroned" achievement.

This ending will put Miriam and Johannes in the Glacial Tomb where Johannes performs an alchemic rite by inscribing letters into the heart of the castle, this rite sends the castle and demons back to where they came from. Back to Arvantville where Miriam and Johannes chat while the skies begin to clear and all is well with the world. Credits.

It's good to know all that effort was worth it and the town is safe without the tyranny of demons. If you'd like to skip all that mess and just watch the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night ending you can below.
