10 Best TV Moms Of The Past Decade, Ranked | ScreenRant

Listen, it's impossible to list who the best mom on TV is. From sitcoms to dramas to animation — how does one choose the best of the best!? For years, we've seen these 10 women raise their children and take care of the household while maintaining their respective careers and hobbies. We've seen them at their highest and their lowest, and we keep coming back from more.

From 2009 to today, we're taking a look at 10 of the best moms on TV for the past decade. Let's see who came in the top spot!

10 MARY COOPER: THE BIG BANG THEORY

The Big Bang Theory ran from 2007 to 2019. For 12 seasons, we've grown to love Sheldon Cooper and his unique friends. But there was one character on the show that would pop up from time to time who deserves more credit: Mary Cooper. Sheldon's mom was a hilarious guest star because of her religious views.

It didn't help the fact that she lived in West Texas and said the most disrespectful things without even realizing they were disrespectful. Mary's character was so loved that she continued after The Big Bang Theory on Young Sheldon. But instead of actress Laurie Metcalf portraying Mary, her real-life daughter, Zoe Perry, portrays a younger Mary Cooper.

9 LESLIE KNOPE: PARKS AND RECREATION

Sadly, it's been four years since Parks and Rec. has been off-air, which means it's been four years since we've seen Pawnee's Leslie Knope tackle working for the government and the National Park Service. In the sixth season, we learn that this busy-bee was pregnant with not one baby but three!

Now that Leslie was about to be a mother to triplets, fans wondered if Leslie would take a step back from her work duties. But if anything, having kids pushed Leslie to work even harder to provide for her family and be a good role model for young kids (especially women) everywhere.

8 TAMI TAYLOR: FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

From 2008 to 2011, Tami Taylor was everyone's favorite mom in Friday Night Lights. The show lasted for five seasons and was about a high school football team small town in Texas. Tami was portrayed by Connie Britton, who was the loving and understanding wife and mother.

She was married to the town's high school football coach while also raising two kids. Without Tami, there's no way Coach Taylor's household would run as smoothly as it did. She's his rock and was totally there for Julie and Gracie.

7 BEVERLY GOLDBERG: THE GOLDBERGS

The Goldbergs released in 2013 on ABC and is currently in its seventh season. Produced by Dan Levy, the sitcom takes place in the '80s and focuses on the ups and downs life brings the Goldberg family. Wendi McLendon-Covey portrays Beverly. She's a hilariously overbearing mom of three kids who lets her emotions get the best of her.

Now that her kids are getting older, letting them spread their wings and find their own independence would be ideal, but it's hard for Beverly. She can't let go. She'll do anything, and everything for kids and can be offended when her kids no longer need her.

6 ALICIA FLORRICK: THE GOOD WIFE

The Good Wife lasted for seven seasons, from 2009 to 2016, and was too good to be canceled. Alicia Florrick is portrayed by Julianna Margulies and is the mother of two kids (Zach and Grace). What makes The Good Wife so amazing is it's exactly what Alicia is.

After being completely blindsided and publicly embarrassed by her husband's sex scandal, she decided to go back to work as a lawyer. With her head held high, she single-handedly took charge of her family while being a complicated woman in her own right.

5 NANCY BOTWIN: WEEDS

Lasting for eight seasons, Mary-Louise Parker portrayed Nancy Botwin in Weeds. The show revolves around Nancy, a widow, who would do anything to support her kids. After losing four husbands and three boys at home, Nancy begins selling pot and becomes a top dealer in the area.

Ironically, Nancy doesn't want her children mixed up in the world of drugs, but it's one of the only ways to supply her children with the best lives possible. Mary-Louise Parker did such a great job at portraying a diehard mom that she won a Golden Globe.

4 BONNIE: MOM

Created by Chuck Lorre, Mom is about a mother-daughter duo who reconnected after struggling with addiction issues for most of their lives. Now that both are sober, they're reconnecting and working on their relationship as mothers, former users, and mother and daughter.

The show has been praised (and criticized) for its stance on drug addiction, teen pregnancy, alcoholism, and more. But on the show, Allison Janney's role of Bonnie is what stands out the most. After having her daughter Christy at a young age, she's trying to make up for lost time now that they're adults.

3 LORELAI GILMORE: GILMORE GIRLS

Granted, Gilmore Girls ended back in 2007, but the reboot that Netflix did (Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life) hit screens in 2016, bringing Lorelai Gilmore back into our lives. The reboot only lasted one season and had four episodes, but it was everything fans of the show could have wanted.

For years, young girls wanted Lorelai to be their fictional mother. She and Rory had such a deep bond where the connected over takeout food and movie nights at home. Although Lorelai is sarcastic and acts like a teenaged girl herself at times, she's by far one of the most popular moms of the decade.

2 MARGE SIMPSON: THE SIMPSONS

The Simpsons have been on the air since 1989 and are on their 31st season! For almost 31 years, we've been watching the ups and downs and trials and tribulations of Marge and her family of five. With three kids, she's constantly chasing around a husband she adores—but also chases around—Marge is a woman who can do it all. She's sweet, soft-natured, and would do anything for the wellbeing of her family.

Sure, she gets angry at her family for messing things up, but that's what makes viewers connect with Marge. She's also had her fair share of odd-jobs, which makes us adore her for trying new things while raising a family. The fact that Marge has been on TV for over 30 years proves that people connect with her.

1 CLAIRE DUNPHY: MODERN FAMILY

Modern Family's Claire Dunphy is a woman on a mission. She's filled with quirks and anxieties of her own, but her troubles are so relatable it hurts. The show is on its last season after being on-air since 2009, and we're going to miss seeing Claire running around after her crazy family.

With her husband Phil, Claire pushes her three kids to reach for a better future. She may come off a little harsh and sometimes too pushy, but it's only because she loves her kids and wants them to make something of themselves. Seeing her struggle with the issue of being her kids' friend and parent is a tennis match every parent has in their head.
