After Zooey Deschanel's many dates with The Property Brother's Jonathan Scott, her estranged husband, Jacob Pechenik, filed for divorce from her. Deschanel and Pechenik have officially decided to sever ties after four years of marriage.
After 39-year-old New Girl star Zooey Deschanel announced her split with husband of four years in September, she was spotted with 41-year-old Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott. Property Brothers, a staple of HGTV since 2011, consists of twin brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott and older brother JD Scott who help couples transform their fixer-uppers into dream homes. Jonathan, who ended his previous relationship with Jacinta Kuznetsov back in April of 2018, has recently confirmed the relationship with the actress. It was revealed that Jonathan and Deschanel met on the set of Carpool Karaoke and the pair had instant chemistry.
Jonathan and Deschanel have been spotted all over Calfornia packing on the PDA and going out on dates. Just last month, the stars were seen in the audience together at the live filming of Dancing with the Stars. Then Jonathan made their relationship Instagram official on October 21st. Jonathan posted a fun picture of the two of them on a double date with his brother, Drew and his wife Linda Phan, at a haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. It seems that Deschanel's estranged film producer husband has seen one two many dating pictures of the new couple. Just one day after the picture was posted to Instagram, Pechenik officially filed the divorce papers. According to records obtained by Us Weekly, he filed the papers Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 22nd. The records revealed the case type was listed as "dissolution with minor children." The pair share their two children, four-year-old daughter Elsie Otter and two-year-old son Charlie Wolf. In the papers, the film producer cites the date of separation as January 8th. He is reportedly also asking for joint legal and physical custody of their two shared children.
It seems that after seeing his estranged wife moving on so publicly, Pechenik decided to sever ties once and for all. The two parents have revealed that they are dedicated to being the best parents for their children and that it's their main priority. Property Brothers' Jonathan and his New Girl can continue to build their relationship together - pun intended.
