A new trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be arriving next week. The upcoming Godzilla film will not only be a sequel to the 2014 movie directed by Gareth Edwards, but will be the third overall film in Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros.' MonsterVerse franchise. The upcoming Godzilla film will also tie into Godzilla vs. Kong, which is set to debut in 2020, pitting two of the most iconic giant movie monsters against each other.
Before Godzilla goes head to head with King Kong however, he will be going up against some of his most iconic enemies. The 2014 Godzilla introduced movie-goers to a brand new kind of parasitic kaiju called M.U.T.O. (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism). While that creature was brand new to the world of Godzilla, Godzilla: King of the Monsters will feature more familiar faces including Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah. These creatures were teased in the first Godzilla 2 trailer that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con this year, but the second trailer could give fans a better look at the creatures and a better idea on what the story will be about.

While the second trailer hasn't dropped yet, Trailer Track is reporting that the next Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer will debut sometime next week. After director Mike Dougherty appeared at Tokyo Comic-Con last night, attendees were treated with a one minute teaser of the newest Godzilla film. Multiple Tweets and posts from people who were at the panel have also backed up Trailer Track's report, saying that Dougherty confirmed the trailer would drop next week.
Apart from the first trailer, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have been teasing fans with clues for the upcoming movie by continually updating an interactive Monarch Sciences website. The website provides many clues about the upcoming film, and has even tracked Godzilla swimming to Skull Island in recent months. The movie studios have also been periodically releasing new images from Godzilla 2, showing glimpses of Godzilla and the other monsters he will battle on screen.
While Godzilla has, and always will, have a strong fan base, some people were not thrilled by what they saw in the first SDCC trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. While the trailer included some stunning imagery and promised an epic duel between Godzilla and his iconic foes, many people were wanting the film to be more than just another movie about giant monsters duking it out. There have since been Godzilla 2 fan theories stating that the actual story wasn't shown in the first trailer and that the plot will be smarter than what is being shown. Whether that is an accurate assumption or not has yet to be seen, but hopefully, this question and many more will be answered when the new trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters debuts next week.
