Aquaman International Trailer Is The Best Yet

Aquaman's latest international trailer perfectly blends action and story, making it the best one yet to come out for the upcoming Warner Bros. superhero standalone movie. Starring Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry and directed by James Wan, the film reunites fans with the titular character after he joined forces with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Cyborg to foil Steppenwolf's plans of taking over Earth in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Now he's off to his own adventure as he claims his place as the rightful king of Atlantis.

Things won't be that easy for human/Atlantean hybrid, however, as his half-brother, Orm/Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson) stands in his way. Meanwhile, David Kane/Black Manta (Yahya Abdul Mateen III) also hunts him on the surface, not really giving him any choice but to settle the conflict with at least one of them. While fans in North America have to wait until December 21 to see what goes down in Aquaman, other international markets gets an earlier release date such as China (December 7), no wonder Warner Bros. is already working double time to ensure that the film gets as much buzz as possible including the release of a brand new trailer.

Following the release of the final domestic trailer for Aquaman comes a brand new international one (a Chinese exclusive shared by Gavin Feng) which offers a better look at Arthur's gladiator-esque fight with Orm under the sea. Aside from the fight, the clip also features a conversation between the half-brothers while Arthur is shackled in Atlantis. Clocking in at a little bit less than three minutes, the promo video it includes snippets of Arthur's journey in finding and eventually locating King Atlan's missing Trident as well. Watch the full trailer below.

Aside from Arthur's adventures under the sea, other key scenes in the clip are his and Mera's fight with Black Manta and his minions on land, as well as more shots of Arthur's journey growing up. A reverse shot of Atlanna cradling her young son as she bids him and Thomas Curry can also be seen. Considering the mixture of old and new scenes, not to mention a better look at two of the film's biggest action set pieces plus bonus shots of Arthur in his iconic Aquaman suit and him in front of the Trident of Neptune, some fans crown this latest trailer as the best one among all that has been released thus far.

With Aquaman's red carpet premiere already taking place, the first wave of reactions for the film has arrived earlier this week, and it looks like Wan delivers on all fronts - a great way to come back from more than a year hiatus for the DCEU. The last box office projection predicts that the Momoa-led movie will take home around $40-60 million in its first three days (domestic) which sounds quite low. but good word of mouth, coupled with thrilling trailers like this one will undoubtedly lure more people to catch it on opening weekend. It's also worth noting that China is a huge market for comic book movies, and if this latest trailer is as effective as fans online tout it to be, Warner Bros.' upcoming project could do really well there.
