Creed II star Michael B. Jordan had a big surprise in store for a super fan when she recently visited the set of the upcoming sequel. The follow-up to 2015’s Ryan Coogler-directed hit, Creed II brings Jordan’s Adonis Creed back together with Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa. Tessa Thompson also returns in the role of Bianca. With Coogler’s departure as director, Steven Caple Jr. steps in to helm the sequel.
Creed II picks up the story of Adonis as he faces off against Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago, the boxer who took Adonis' father Apollo Creed’s life in the ring years ago. Of course, Rocky also knows all about the Dragos as he himself vanquished Ivan as revenge for the death of Apollo. Stallone co-wrote the script for Creed II, revisiting characters he first created in the original Rocky franchise entry Rocky IV.

With Creed II filming underway, star Michael B. Jordan recently had the occasion to give a special treat to a fan. When Jordan super fan Audeva's prom date canceled on her at the last minute, she decided to take a life-size cut-out of Jordan to the prom instead. Jordan caught wind of Audeva’s “date” with his cut-out and decided to pay her back with a special visit to the set of Creed II. In the video below, see what happened when Jordan himself surprised Audeva on the set.
Though he initially became known to audiences through his roles in TV series like Parenthood and especially Friday Night Lights, Jordan truly became a star thanks to his performance in Creed. Coogler hit all the right notes in updating the Rocky franchise for a new generation and shifting the focus away from Rocky and onto Jordan's young, up-and-coming boxer. Since his star turn in that film, Jordan has risen to even greater heights of cultural impact with his performance as Erik Killmonger in 2018’s blockbuster Black Panther. Jordan also starred in this summer’s HBO movie adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451.
After the surprising success of Creed, everyone will be watching to see if Creed II can keep the series going. The onus is largely on director Caple who steps in for Coogler. And of course there’s Stallone who co-wrote the script, bringing back one of his great adversaries from the original Rocky movies in Dolph Lundgren’s hulking Russian machine-man Ivan Drago. No matter how Creed II turns out though, it seems Jordan will always have a fan in Audeva.
