With Insomniac's Spider-Man just around the corner, a new cinematic trailer is showing off the complicated relationships between Peter Parker and the residents of New York City. As the latest footage shows, Spider-Man's work life still goes hand in hand with Parker's personal problems.
Moving at break-neck speed, the trailer runs through the forces of evil that Spider-Man is going up against in the game. Highlighting the likes of Shocker, Vulture, and Rhino, there are also fleeting appearances from Kingpin and Silver Sable. Promised to be a veritable who's who of Spider-Man allies and enemies, Spider-Man will be a huge open-world superhero game that could set up an MCU of games.

In the trailer, J. Jonah Jameson is back again with Just The Facts to try and put the wall-crawling hero in his place. Peter Parker goes under the alias of Ben Reilly - as a nod to the famous Spider-Man character - while Jameson continues his one-man rant against the vigilante superhero. Even though the trailer reminds players that Norman Osborn is a shining example of a model citizen, fans will have to wait and see if the powerful politician reverts to his villainous days as the Green Goblin. Elsewhere, Parker asks if Sable's private army really on the side of good or are they just another potential threat to the safety of New York's citizens.
It isn't all doom and gloom though as Parker's friends and relatives like Miles Morales, Aunt May, and Mary Jane Watson all appear as well. Mary Jane is already confirmed as a playable character in Spider-Man and she will help the main campaign with investigative journalist missions. Insomniac is remaining tight-lipped on whether Morales will have his own campaign in the game, but with only a few weeks before Spider-Man comes to the PlayStation 4, there isn't long to wait to find out. Finally, the defensive Parker reminds Jameson that Spider-Man is working closely with Police Chief Yuri Watanabe and echoes the gameplay footage of the Raft escape that was first seen at this year's Comic-Con International.
With such an action-packed trailer, it might be a struggle to see how Insomniac plans on cramming all of the above characters into one game. Add this to a possible inclusion of Daredevil and it sounds like there is more than enough to fill Spider-Man's 20-hour main story as well as the dozens of side missions and quests. Given that Insomniac is looking at the biggest Spidey game to date, Spider-Man looks to be another strong contender for Game of the Year when it finally swings into action on September 7.
